Pronouns are used to replace nouns. Nouns can be either the subject or the object of a sentence.
We use a subject pronoun to replace a noun acting as the subject of a sentence e.g.
Ann loves Tom.
In this case the noun Ann is the subject of the sentence and it can be replaced by she
She loves Tom.
We use an object pronoun to replace a noun acting as the object of a sentence e.g.
Tom loves Ann.
In this case the noun Ann is the object of the sentence and it can be replaced by her.
